The Calloway Brothers
R&B/Pop Hitmakers
Mr. Reggie and Vincent Calloway are known in the music industry as hitmakers. With featured hits with a few of our beloved top R&B singers. What I enjoy about these two gentlemen, they did not leave themselves out. This year marked their 35th anniversary hit single I Wanna Be Rich. Which they remastered with a new video and remix. The song is remixed by Grammy nominated producer Darius Barnes pka Phonix Beats who has worked with J. Cole, The Game, Trey Songz, Eminem, and 50 Cent. The collaboration brings a current sound for this generation of wealth enthusiasts. I Wanna Be Rich was first released on Solar Record Label. They released the remix on their own label Spiral Galaxy Entertainment. In celebrating their 35th anniversary Reggie and Vincent have begun promoting their new project. First stop will be at Vibrato Grill Jazz in Los Angeles on January 23rd, 2025, please make sure you RSVP, to enjoy the Calloway Experience.

R&B/Pop hitmakers Calloway celecrate 35 years of being “Rich” with “Love, peace, and happiness”
GRAMMY nominated producer Darius “Phonix” Barnes remixed the anniversary version of “I Wanna Be Rich,” which drops on Friday.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (4 DECEMBER 2024): Thirty-five years ago, brothers Reggie and Vincent Calloway set a simple affirmation reflecting money-centric times to music, which became a Billboard No. 2 pop hit for their group Calloway . Thirty-five years later, the affirmation still rings true in our world and Calloway is back with a special anniversary remix of their vibrantly charming hit. To introduce the fun R&B/pop jam to an entirely new demographic, Calloway tapped GRAMMY nominated producer Darius “Phonix” Barnes (J. Cole, The Game, Trey Songz, Eminem, 50 Cent) to remix the single, which releases on Friday (December 6) on the Spiral Galaxy Entertainment label. A new “I Wanna Be Rich” video will premiere on December 23.
CALLOWAY STILL WANNA BE RICH!
Remember the band CALLOWAY? Sure you do. The brothers (Reggie and Vincent Calloway ) were big in 1989 with their debut album spawning the chart hit ‘I Wanna Be Rich’. Since those heady days the boys have been busy – performing, writing and producing but recently after reflecting on how the world has changed since their heyday, they decided to revisit that signature song.
The original ‘I Wanna Be Rich’ reflected the money-centric times in which it was created but now the boys suggest that the song conveys a powerful desire for a prosperous life of “love, peace, and happiness.” They say: “ ‘I Wanna Be Rich’ is an especially important song to us among the others in our catalogue. It communicates in the most primal way by saying what people want to say out loud, but often keep to themselves. So many of us are taught that money and riches are only available to others, or that money is somehow inherently evil. We turn that around and empower people with this song.”

*“One morning we were getting ready…and (Midnight Star’s) Melvin Gentry was humming ‘I Wanna Be Rich’,” said Billboard Chart-Topper Reggie Calloway, founder of the group Midnight Star, about how the Calloway single “I Wanna Be Rich” (Spiral Galaxy Entertainment/Symphonic) was birthed. “I said that could be a song. I was working on ‘Freak-a-Zoid’ (single) but put it aside. Halfway through I realized it (‘I Want To Be Rich’) was meant to be. We knew we had a good song….passed up producing for Whitney Houston! Everything changed.”
